LESLIE Harcourt Ashton was born 14 July 1895 10 Granville Road Stroud Green and baptised 12 August 1896 at Holy Trinity, Stroud Green Hornsey Middlesex; he died 6 January 1966 at 1881 Marine Drive, North Vancouver British Columbia.
He married (1) Clytie Rachael Swan 1917 Hastings Sussex; she was born 1898 Colchester Essex.
They had:
i. Bruce Harcourt was born 1918 Hastings Sussex; he died 26 January 1987 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
LESLIE departed from Liverpool on the Tunisian and arrived in Halifax Nova Scotia 21 January 1912, age 17, with $20 in his pocket. His destination was Alberta where his Aunt Sarah Ann Guerrier, sister of his father THOMAS Ashton was homesteading. Sarah had arrived in Canada with her family in 1905 and was homesteading in the Hay Lakes area of Alberta. LESLIE states on the passenger list that his occupation in England was librarian; in Alberta, it was to be farming. LESLIE went back to England with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Forces on 17 November 1914. He was assigned to the 31st Battalion, Reg. No. 79287.
Clytie and Bruce arrived in Montreal Quebec on 26 October 1919 on the Megantic. I haven't been able to find out what happened to Clytie or any other information about Bruce.
He married (2) ALICE Valentine Sikstrom on 7 November 1938 at the Court House in Vancouver British Columbia. ALICE was born 8 August 1902 in Lyksele Sweden; she died 19 March 1888 in Summerland British Columbia.
They had the following children:
i. JUNE Alice was born 23 October 1933 Vancouver British Columbia and died 20 March1999 Penticton British Columbia. She married Philip Holton Gilbert Brock on 3 July 1952 St Andrew United Church North Vancouver British Columbia. He was born 22 August 1914 in Ottawa Ontario and he died 14 September 1995 Penticton British Columbia. They had 5 children.

They had the following children:
i. Arthur Thomas was born 20 June 1879 at 9 Holland Road Brixton and baptised 3 September
1879 at St James the Apostle Camberwell Surrey; he died 20 October 1960 Hemel Hempstead; he
married Beatrice Annie Fisher 15 June 1907 St Paul Haringey Middlesex. They had one child.
ii. John James was born 6 September 1880 at 9 Holland Road Brixton and baptised 21
November 1880 at St James the Apostle Camberwell Surrey; he died 3 May 1928 and was buried at
Southgate; he married Evelyn Kate Casserley 2 March 1901 West Ham Essex. They had 3 children.
iii. Evelyn Clara Alberta was born 16 November 1881 62 Lancaster Road Stroud Green and
was baptised 24 February 1884 at Holy Trinity Stroud Green; she died 27 August 1958;
she married Hubert George Vines 27 August 1910 Holy Trinity Stroud Green Haringey;
he was born 23 February 1880 Swindon Wiltshire and died 21 June 1945. They had 3 children.
iv. Cecil George was born 17 November 1883 62 Lancaster Road and baptised 24 February
1884 at Holy Trinity Stroud Green Haringey; he died 22 November 1964; he married
Ethel Louise Broadbent 3 September Holy Trinity Stroud Green. They had one child.
v. Irene Maud was born 27 June 1886 10 Granville Road Stroud Green and baptised 27
November 1889 Holy Trinity Stroud Green Hornsey; she died 27 January 1963. Never married.
vi. Doris Emily was born 8 July 1889 10 Granville Road Stroud Green and baptised 27
November 1889 Holy Trinity Stroud Green Hornsey; she died 30 September 1892 Edmonton
Essex. Never married.

married Thomas Evans August 1921; he was born 17 September 1892 and died September 1974
Port Elizabeth South Africa. They had 3 children.
VALFRID Karlsson Sikstrom was born 7 November 1866 in Lycksele Västerbottens län Sweden; he died 4 March 1945 in Essondale New Westminster British Columbia; he married IDA Bygdén 25 June 1899 in Lycksele Västerbottens län Sweden; she was born 28 July 1881 Lycksele; she died 10 June 1976 Vancouver British Columbia. VALFRID emigrated to Alberta with his brother Karl and his family 13 June 1902. IDA followed the next year with her 6 month old daughter ALICE. They left on 20 February 1903 from Liverpool England on the Tunisian and arrived in Halifax 8 March 1903. ALICE was born August 8 1902 in Sweden so I assume that IDA did not want to travel to Canada so late in her pregnancy. In 1909 they moved to Port Hammond British Columbia when ALICE was 7. After VALFRID left the family about 1915, IDA cooked in a hotel to support her children, and kept a boarding house which was well known in the Fraser Valley.

i. Alexander was born about 1900 in Lyksele but only lived three months, dying of diphtheria.
ii. ALICE Valentine was born 8 August 1902 Lyksele Sweden; she died 19 March 1988
Summerland British Columbia; she married (1) Charles Wright 5 July 1924 Vancouver British
Columbia; he was born 1897 Lawrence Kansas; they had one child Charles Roy Wright born 7
October 1926 Royal Columbia Hospital New Westminster British Columbia and she married (2)
LESLIE Harcourt Ashton 1938 Vancouver City Hall.
iii. Wilfred Theodore was born 4 September 1906 New Serapta Alberta; he
died 10 May 1995 in Burnaby British Columbia; he married Ethel K. Hewson about 1940; they had 2
children.

JAMES Ashton was born about 1817 in Church Eaton Staffordshire (1841 1851 1861 1871 census); he died 1880 in Lambeth Surrey; he married SARAH ______; she was born 1820 in Atherstone Warwickshire; she died 1881 Lambeth Surrey. I have not yet been able to find a record of their marriage.
They had the following children:
i. Sarah Ann was born 16 August 1844 Acorn Street Shoreditch and baptised 8 September 1844 at
St Leonard Shoreditch; she died June 1848 Grays Terrace and was buried 22 June 1848 St Mary
Newington Southwark Surrey, age (almost) 4.
ii. Mary Jane was born 21 June 1847 11 Cullum Street City and was baptised 24 June 1847 St
Dionis Back Church in the City of London; she died 1847 City of London.
iii. James William was born 12 December 1848 Great Terrace Dover Road Newington and
was baptised 4 March 1849 St George the Martyr Southwark Surrey; died 4 March 1896
Edmonton Essex. He married Clara Isabella Godbolt 17 July 1878 Holy Trinity
St Mary Newington Southwark Surrey. They had 7 children.
iv. Eleanor was born 8 January 1851 Cross Passage Leadenhall Market City of London and
baptised 6 February 1851 St Peter upon Cornhill City of London; she died December 1851
Leadenhall Market and was buried 28 December 1851 St Mary Newington Surrey.
v. THOMAS (1852-1920)
vi. George was born 8 May 1854 at 2 Leadenhall Market City of London and baptised 11 June
1854 St Botolph Bishopgate in the City of London; he died 1870 Islington Middlesex.
vii. Sarah Ann was born 14 February 1857 Leadenhall Market City of London and was baptised
3 May 1857 St Benet Gracechurch City of London; she died 9 April 1939 Sandy Lake Alberta. She
married John Andrew Guerrier 1878 Lambeth; he died 1905 Sandy Lake
Alberta shortly after arriving in Canada. They had 4 children.
viii. Harry was born 1858 City of London and died 1882 Lambeth Surrey.
JOHN Godbolt was born 21 January 1826 Syleham Suffolk; he died 7 July 1884 Lambeth Surrey; he married CLARA Harriet Cook 20 May 1849 St Luke Chelsea Middlesex; was born 31 May 1827 at Passmore Place St Pancras and baptised 29 July 1827 St Pancras Camden and at Somers Town Chapel, Seymour Street Middlesex; she died 16 February 1883 Lambeth Surrey.
JOHN Godbolt was a master builder/carpenter.

July 1853 St Luke Chelsea Middlesex; she died 14 January 1893 Edmonton Essex; she married
James William Ashton 17 July 1878 at Holy Trinity St Mary Newington Southwark Surrey. They
had 7 children.
iv. Frederick Charles was born on 26 March 1855 Hercules Buildings in Lambeth and baptised on
15 April at St Mary Lambeth in Surrey. He died 9 March 1863 in St George Southwark Surrey, age 7

died 1937 Lewisham London. They had no children.

Notice is hereby given that the partnership lately subsisting between us Charles Godbolt, the elder, of Syleham, in Suffolk, Builder and Carpenter, Charles Godbolt, the younger, late of Brockdish, in Norfolk, and now of Redenhall with Harleston in Norfolk, Builder and Carpenter, and George Godbolt, of Brockdish aforesaid, Builder and Carpenter, heretofore carrying on business under the firm of " Charles Godbolt and Sons" was on the seventeenth day of October, One thousand eight hundred and sixty one, dissolved by mutual consent; and that all debts owing to the said partnership are to be received by the said Charles Godbolt, the younger, and all persons to whom the said partnership stands indebted are requested immediately to send in their respective accounts to the said Charles Godbolt, the younger, in order that the same may be examined and paid. WILLIAM Cook was born 1792 St Marylebone (according to the 1851 census) or 24 June 1792 No 2, Riders Court Doctor's Commons London (according to C Ashton); he was buried 14 January 1857 Paternoster Row St Pauls London (C. Ashton). He married MARY Bibby 26 December 1814 at St Bride Fleet Street City of London; she was born about 1798 St James Westminster Middlesex. She died 26 January 1877 in Lambeth Surrey.
They had the following children:
i. Jane was born on 21 October 1817 at N 37 St Andrews Hill City of London and baptised on
7 February 1819 at St Bride Fleet City of London; according to Cecil Ashton she married Tepper but
I have not been able to find further records of Jane at all (marriage, births of children or death).
ii. John was born on 8 January 1819 at N 37 St Andrews Hill City of London and baptised on 7
February 1819 at St Bride Fleet Street City of London; he died 1901 Camberwell Surrey; he married
Catherine A. sometime between 1881 and 1891- I have not found a marriage record; she was born
1849 Clerkenwell. No children.
iii. William Henry was born 14 July 1820 and baptised 13 May 1821 St James Westminster
London; he died before 1881; he married Emily Louisa Inwood on 13 February 1845 at St Martin in
the Fields Middlesex; she was born 1829 St Giles Middlesex. They had 13 children.
iv. Harriet Louisa was born 10 October 1821 and buried 30 October 1821 St Anne Soho
(according to Cecil Ashton). I'm not sure where Cecil got his information from but the only record I
found at St Anne Soho was for a Harriet Louisa Cook of Litchfield Street buried 9 December 1821
age 3 weeks.
v. Clara was born 12 August 1823; died 1 November 1825 Augustus Street St Pancras and was
buried 2 November 1825 St Pancras Camden Middlesex.
vi. Mary Anne was born 20 June 1825 Augustus Street St Pancras and was baptized 26 February
1826 St Pancras Camden Middlesex; she married Thomas Allen Blissett 24 April 1853 St Mary
Lambeth Surrey; he was born 1834 Wootten Street Lambeth and died 1893 Lambeth ; they had 5
children.

Pancras Camden Middlesex; she died 30 November 1873 Lambeth Surrey.

St Pancras Camden Middlesex; she died 21 February 1834 (Cecil Ashton) and was buried 2 March
1834 St Pancras Camden Middlesex.
x. George was born 24 November 1835 Brill Terrace St Pancras and baptised 27 December 1835
St Pancras Camden Middlesex; he married about 1864 Mary Ann (1871 1881 1891 census); they
had 6 children.
xi. Frederick Augustus was born 30 May 1838 Brill Terrace St Pancras and baptised 30 December
1838 St Pancras Camden Middlesex; he died 3 November 1882 Lambeth Surrey; he married
Elizabeth Mary Adams 7 September 1872 St Mary at Lambeth Surrey; she was born about 1844
Lambeth and died sometime before 1891; they had 5 children.
xii. Martha Isabella was born 14 May 1841 5 South Street Kensington. No further record.
This list of children was sent to June (Ashton)Brock by Cecil Ashton. It was copied from a list
written and dated by Wm Cook November 6 1853. This list was in the possession John Godbolt and
later given to Irene Ashton.
LARS Larsson Bygden was born 21 December 1809 Bygdeå Västerbottens län Sweden; he died 25 November 1872 Kyrkbyn Lycksele Västerbottens län Sweden; he married BRITA Sofia Norberg; she was born 21 August 1812 Pjäsörn Norsj (1890 census); she died 26 March 1893 Nydala Lycksele Västerbottens län Sweden.
They had the following children:
i. Sofia Katarina was born 1837 Lycksele Västerbottens län (1890 census); she married Fredrik Lundstrom; they had 4 children.
ii. Gustava Matilda Larsdotter was born 1838 Lycksele Västerbottens län (1890 census); she died 1908 ; she married Johan Abrahamsson.
iii. Eva Charlotta was born 1840 Lycksele Västerbottens län (1890 census); she married Abraham Hedman. They had 7 children.
